Owning a dog is a huge responsibility. Also, it can be costly.
Many kids would like to own a dog, but not all parents can afford to buy one. Depending on the breed, getting a new dog is between $200 – $2000.
One kid from a small town in Russia wished for a dog for Christmas. Sadly, her family is living on a small budget. Her parents do not have the means to buy her a pet as a present. She tried her luck in writing to the President.
Olga Maruchshenko, a 12-year-old girl from the Republic of Khakassia, Siberia, wants to have a blue-eyed husky for Christmas. However, she clearly understands that her parents cannot afford to give her wish because they do not have extra funds.
Olga thought of writing to Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, to ask for a dog as a gift.
She first sought the permission of her mother before she sent the letter to the President.
In her letter, Olga said that she is taking her chances because her mom does not believe that the President would not read her letter. She also promised that she would take care of the dog and that she would study hard.
Vladimir Putin is known for being an animal lover, particularly dogs. Putin created a fund to save the Siberian tiger from extinction.
Surprisingly, President Putin noticed the girl’s letter! He ordered the head of her town to give her a husky. He also made sure that Olga’s sister would get a gift too!
It was indeed a precious gift! President Putin may not be present when the husky was given, but he ensured that the girl would get the token.
President Putin may seem to be a tough world leader, but he has a soft heart for animals.
